China blocks U.S. air pollution data as Apec leaders meet

Beijing is currently one of the cities with higher levels of air pollution in planet. The Asia-Pacific Economic Co-operation –Apec- is a gathering that includes important world leaders from 21 countries that join together for China’s economic improvement. Beijing’s authorities asked to the factories shut down the day of meeting so the traffic cars reduced thanks to the authority’s request.

Furthermore Beijing authorities asked to people avoid use apps and digital information sources about air pollution levels that proceed from U.S. embassy monitors. The city has its own measuring center but many people think that the U.S. embassy measure is more realistic. The Beijing authority wants to remove U.S. embassy data from websites and apps.

However, the environment conditions were not the best the day of the meeting, reporters said that they could see the smog and the levels were ten times over the permitted limit by the World Health Organization. Some traditional acts in Beijing that includes burn clothes from parents diseased were stopped during the days of the APEC.

Opinion

The government knows they are trough a big health problem but their actions are not the correct. The government should search for transcendental solutions to this problem.

The Beijing’s method to reduce the pollutants in air is ridiculous because this only gives a temporal solution and makes people doubt about the seriousness of their position to face this problem. Air pollutants in Beijing kills people every year in an unbelievable way and children are more affected by this silent killer.
